Candidates should have one or two committees that they would be interested in joining upon admittance to the YAC.
What Could You Do?
Communications
Our Online Outreach Committee handles the YAC’s digital footprint. We are looking for new members that can run the YAC’s various social media accounts including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Members will also draft and proof read press releases for the YAC website. Other tasks include interviewing students for our Stories in Transit Initiative and creating graphics with Canva.
Research
Our SEPTA Affairs Committee researches and authors policy recommendations to SEPTA. We are looking for new members to conduct transit research, write policy memos, and interview SEPTA employees to learn more about the Authority and various topics in the transit industry. Our SEPTA Affairs team strives to be experts on transit best practices. Other tasks include compiling SEPTA budget comments and attending meetings with the Citizens Advisory Council
Outreach
Our Student Outreach Committee works with student governments and student organizations across the SEPTA service area. We are looking for members to help champion UPASS at colleges and universities where it has not yet been implemented. This means working to create consensus between students, administrators and other stakeholders. Other tasks will include tabling, maintaining student contact databases, and connecting student groups with SEPTA leadership.
